Pet Blood Bank comes to Barrow-in-Furness

To all those living on the South Lakes and Furness Peninsula

The Pet Blood Bank now has a location in Barrow-in-Furness where you can take your greyhounds to donate blood.  Before they can set a date to start sessions they must have a minimum number attending and would like people to phone the Pet Blood Bank Office T: 01509 232222 to register your interest in attending a session in Barrow-in-Furness.  I know Kendal, Windermere and Lancaster are difficult to get to for some people especially for those living on Walney, so why not give the Blood Bank a ring and kick the Barrow sessions into action.
For those of you who don’t know about the Pet Blood Bank.  It was found Greyhounds make superb blood donors because they can donate to any breed of dog, and each pint can save the lives of up to 4 dogs.  Any dog weighing 25 kg or more who are under the age of 9 years, and are fit and well can donate blood.

The big benefit is your dog is given a full health check including a blood test to ensure they are fit and well – and this is done FREE OF CHARGE

They simply lay on a comfortable bed on a table and give 450ml., then after they receive rest, refreshments and a ‘goody’ bag.The whole process involving the collection of blood is very easy and the team are very good at putting both the owner and the donor at ease. The donor simply lies down, relaxes an enjoys all the love and attention they are given while the 450 ml is being collected.

Thank you all in anticipation of helping the Pet Blood Bank save the lives of dogs needing a transfusion.
