Oh dear Badgers !!!
We had a badger visit the paddock last night, and oh dear what a mess it’s made. It ripped a hole in the chain link fence where it connects to the double gates and has dug up everywhere Charles has levelled off and put new turf during last year. Charles spent a lot of time last year levelling the paddock and laying new turf to make it safe for the dogs to run in. We were very proud of all he’s done so it pains to see what happened during the night. We’ve been told the badger was looking for worms and was drawn to the newly laid turf as it’s easy to turn over. We have some sheets of weld mesh left over from doing the fences and gates so we plan to use that to make the fence more secure. The weld mesh can be bent at the bottom and put into the ground to make it difficult to dig under, it will make a better connection next to the gate post and a badger won’t be able to rip that. This is the second time we’ve had a badger, last time it only dug a bit up and we secured the area it got in. The damage caused was nothing like this.
