Today a group of volunteers and local greyhound owners headed down to Walney Island in Barrow to test out the walk route for the August monthly walk. It was a very useful excursion as the last time we held a group walk here was in January 2019.

The August 2021 monthly walk will take place on Sunday 8th August and will set off at 11am from Earnse Bay Carpark on Walney Island - LA13 3US

There will be a main group walk of approx 3 miles, but shorter walks back through the dunes are available for those who want a shorter walk. The terrain is mostly flat on sandy / gravel paths.

There are toilets on site and a large free carpark. There is also a cafe on site run by Earnse Bay Kitesurfing Company - they serve hot drinks, ice cream, cakes and hotdogs. We will be bringing the charity van and will be having a stall selling goodies such as greetings cards, jackets, snoods, collars and greyhound treats.

Normal rules apply for the group walks - this is a walk for sighthounds only and please be aware that some hounds attending can be nervous and not used to meeting other breeds of dogs. If you have a nervous hound please ensure it’s muzzled and please keep all hounds on the lead at all times.

If you have any questions about the walk please contact Emily on 07739 015278
